Living Corpse

Sometimes I am a living corpse. Today I turned on the tv and after some time a fly came buzzing near my ear, around my head, and across my line of vision. It was then when I realized that Allah had sent a fly to me to remind me of a corpse and how flies gather around it to feast on its festering matter. I didn't have a tv until a few months ago and before it I have no idea what I did to 'kill time.'

Time is of the essence. Time is money. It's about time you got here.

"Killing time' is the most regretful phrase ever. Why would anyone want to kill time unless one knows nothing about it?

I heard in some places ice is sold from rusty trucks that hold huge blocks of ice where a man with an ice pick breaks pieces off to sell. A man selling ice has to sell as much as he can before his products melts away, down the drain, lost. A life lost, but not down a drain...no...down somwhere else if you believe in that kind of stuff.

Allah swears on time and until tragedy or sorrow or grief hits you in the heart, you never really think about time so deeply. I need to think about it now and as my iman goes up and down, the tv will turn off and on and hopefully off.  A stronger heart is needed.

I need to get creative with my source of entertainment and I don't mean watching documentaries instead of movies. Think think.

scratch my back

Asalamu'alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu.

It's been more than a year since I've "xanged." This was my first ever real web blog and though I got lost after I signed in, I'm happy to say I think I might start blogging again.

Today I made a small batch of SUMAN, a filipino snack made with sweet coconut rice wrapped in fresh green banana leaves and steamed. Where do you get fresh banana leaves you ask? Leave it to my husband to bring home ten pounds of anything he sees for a good deal and leave it to me to deal with it. We get in many arguments about stuff he brings home. He thinks im psycho when it comes to organization and cleanliness. Maybe I am.

My daughter is sleeping alhumdulillah and I feel that Allah will test me BiG TiME in the near future since I'm starting school again after busting my brains in college being pre-med and being good at it, may I add. Being an educated stay at home mother was tough in the beginning because alot of the time I personally felt that I had to prove myself to everyone around me, but I stopped trying to do that along time ago. My baby will soon become part of the local muslim daycare..  It should be rule that a married couple stay near the wife's family. =)

Anyways the hubby is also in school in addition to his 80 hour a week work schedule (may Allah give him special energy powers) so life in the coming months will be a painful adaptation, but Allah is wise and Allah is merciful and if I claim to love Him as much as I do, there is nothing I should question about His qadr. Oh Allah, give me special adaptation powers.

PAAAYCE!~!

easy and small but with Allah stands tall..

One of the things I do on Jum'ah (Friday) is drop some money in the sadaqa (charity) box in the mosque. Impressed? I didn't think so. Most everyone drops something in the box. Next time, give your donation money to a child and ask him/her to drop it in the donation box for you. Most of them enjoy doing favors that have to do with money. They feel important and they are. Most of all, they feel good about themselves.

InshaAllah (Godwilling) the child might learn the goodness of this deed and adopt the practice themselves as they age.  In addition, not only do you get blessings from your Lord, but the child does as well. After all, they had to walk allllll the way to the donation box for you. =)

Keep your intentions pure. InshaAllah Khair! Wa salamu'alaykum warahmatullah! (peace be with you)

da flock hadith

And the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) has stated, “Indeed, all of you are shepherds, and all of you shall be questioned concerning your flocks. Hence, the leader of the people is a shepherd, and he shall be questioned concerning his flock, and the man is a shepherd amongst the people of his household and he shall be questioned concerning his flock. And the woman is shepherd over the house of her husband and his children, and she shall be questioned concerning them. The slave of a man is a shepherd over the property of his master and he shall be questioned concerning it. Surely, all of you are shepherds and all you shall be questioned concerning your flocks.” [Agreed Upon]

...and if  you don't have a flock yet....you're still going to be questioned! mashaAllah, may Allah save us from leading ourselves into matters of doubt, denial, and deception. ameen.

...she said, "Bismillah," and the devil frowned...

salam! -hannah
